Obtaining the USNO-A2.0 or USNO-SA2.0 Catalog via Anonymous FTP

Both USNO-A2.0 and USNO-SA2.0 are available from our FTP server. A typical session might look like the following.

ftp -i ftp.nofs.navy.mil (192.68.148.67) login: anonymous password: (your e-mail address) cd usnoa - or - cd usnosa mget read* mget *.acc binary get zoneNNNN.cat (NNNN as appropriate) quit

The ASCII READ* and .ACC files are relatively short, but the binary ZONE* files are long (USNO-A2.0 takes about 6.5GBytes and USNO-SA2.0 takes about 650MBytes) and we only have T1 service.

We hope that you will use your real e-mail address as the password. Doing so will allow us to maintain a list of those who have gotten copies, just in case we need to contact you about changes, problems, or other issues. All e-mail addresses will be treated as confidential material.
